Monoprint from etched stone
on Hahnemule bright white paper
43 x 32 in. (109 x 81 cm)

About this Edition

The Remnants series formed from combining both the printmaker’s master knowledge of the intaglio process with the artist’s expert manipulation of texture and material.

Each monoprint from this continued series is a unique composition of variegated and fragmented shapes created from etched sections of repurposed marble and stone. The monoprint series hosts a range of compositions which explores the delicate balance between rigid forms and painterly marks.

Remnants 6 is a two-color monoprint from two etched stones. The Remnants monoprints are part of an ongoing series the artist wishes to explore over time.

About the Artist

Since 2008, Sam Moyer has developed a distinctive language of abstraction that considers questions of value, labor and beauty. Her practice has evolved from its more conceptual and process-based origins to address formal and theoretical issues regarding the construct of painting. In all her production, issues of scale and space remain critical, and Moyer is particularly interested in the way architecture functions in tandem with her objects to create dynamic visual experiences. All these concerns coalesce vividly in Moyer’s most recent paintings, large compositions of variegated and multi-hued sections of repurposed marble, slate and stone combined with fabrics in a spectrum of colors. Combining found textures and objects in innovative ways, Moyer manipulates them into beautifully abstract formal works that provoke a new, expanded, artistic vocabulary.
