About the Artist

Zachary Wollard’s first New York solo show was in 2004 at the Massimo Audiello Gallery, but he has been featured in group shows since 1999 in Tokyo, Chicago, and Madrid. Wollard, who studied literature at Columbia University, began his career as a poet and was slowly drawn to the visual arts and taught himself to paint. One of the products of Wollard’s multiple and diverse mediums are his published books, in which his poems and paintings accompany and compliment each other. In the summer of 2004 Wollard was an artist in residence at the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture.

Wollard was introduced to Bill Goldston by Kiki Smith, his print-making professor at Columbia University. Wollard produced the print The Ironies of Human Longings II, combining every medium he had access too. Wollard’s presence at ULAE continues Tatyana Grosman’s tradition of fusing the arts with literature.
