About the Artist

B. 1966 Joey Kotting earned his BFA from Brighton Polytechnic and his MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. He had his first solo exhibition in New York at Esso Gallery in 1996 and has since had exhibitions at White Columns, Galerie Yvon Lambert (Paris), Galeria Graça (Lisbon) and, most recently, Fredericks Freiser Gallery (NYC). His work has also been included in a number of group exhibitions at the Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art, Thread Waxing Space, Exit Art, and Pace/Wildenstein Gallery as well as the Slamdance Film Festival in Utah.

Kotting has established himself as painter, photographer, video artist/filmmaker and now printmaker. His paintings are recordings of time based on light upon a surface. While making his paintings, he also makes films, videos and photographs documenting the process. The prints are a realization of all his media and represent a single moment in time.
